Our story
A practice for an era of instability.
In a time marked by climate instability, mass extinction, social fragmentation, and widening inequality, R3 Ecology emerges to meet a collective need: to restore not only ecosystems, but our role within them. Ecological resilience cannot be built without cultural coherence, and community wellbeing is inseparable from the health of the land.
R3 offers both technical ecological consulting and transformative education to help individuals, organizations, and municipalities reimagine how they live, build, and steward the world around them. Our work equips clients with the knowledge, tools, and systems to regenerate biodiversity, adapt to climate change, and create places where both people and wild systems can thrive.
Whether through multi-phase restoration plans, regenerative infrastructure design, or immersive rewilding programs, our mission is to reconnect people to place, to each other, and to the deeper ecological intelligence of the bioregions they inhabit. We are not here to offer quick fixes — we are here to co-create lasting solutions rooted in reciprocity, resilience, and the radical act of remembering our belonging to the web of life.

Background & mission
Yulia Klimento is the founder of R3 Ecology — a restoration ecologist, regenerative design consultant, and wilderness guide with 9+ years leading ecological and cultural regeneration initiatives across diverse landscapes. Her career integrates field science, systems thinking, and entrepreneurial leadership to restore degraded ecosystems and reweave human relationships to land.
Academic foundation
With formal education in Biodiversity Conservation from McGill University and advanced specialization in Restoration Ecology through Auburn University's College of Forestry, Wildlife, and Environment, Yulia's academic foundation is matched by real-world application — systematic conservation and restoration planning, native and invasive species management, habitat resilience, and biodiversity assessments grounded in ecological function and climate adaptation.

Project leadership
Yulia has transitioned from field practitioner to project leader, overseeing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives from visioning to implementation — directing financial planning, budgeting, logistics, and ecological reporting. This executive skillset equips her to guide clients through technically sound, scalable, mission-aligned plans.
Wilderness experience & philosophy
Beyond technical and managerial competencies, Yulia brings a deeply embodied understanding of ecological interdependence — shaped by intensive primitive wilderness survival training across four seasons of the Northern Hemisphere and guiding hundreds of participants through wilderness experiences. This grounds her work in direct, lived connection to the land — an ethos carried into the educational arm of R3.
Collaborative approach
Collaboration, equity, and trust are central. Yulia partners with local land stewards and Indigenous communities, advocating for sustainable self-determination and co-designed solutions that reflect cultural context and ecological integrity. As a multilingual communicator and seasoned facilitator, she excels in community engagement, coalition-building, and bringing diverse voices into alignment around shared goals.
